Windsor ‘s Musical Legacy

The town of Windsor can lay claim to some very strong musical credentials in modern times.


It was home to the National Jazz & Blues Festival, an offshoot of the famous Marquee Club, and pre-cursor to the Reading Rock Festival.

The series of Free festivals held at Windsor Great Park between the years 1972 and 1974 were significant for a number of reasons . They were the first lengthy UK free festivals that were reasonably well organised and which were held consecutively in one site.  See this article for more detail.
